Apperently, he's visiting Northern Command, whose stated mission involves, and I quote from their homepage:

* Conduct operations to deter, prevent, and defeat threats and aggression aimed at the United States, its territories, and interests within the assigned area of responsibility; and
* As directed by the President or Secretary of Defense, provide defense support of civil authorities including consequence management operations.

"Consequence management operations". Love that phrase. He went there to manage the consequences of his response to Katrina. (Beware popups)

This is not to be confused with NORAD, which is where they launch the nukes from. Although, he will be close in case he decides Iran is up for some preemptive deterrence.
